RISK MANAGEMENT
1. AMPS Inc. Management Committee appoint a Risk Management Officer each year.
2. Notification of risk, perceived risk and future managment issues to be lodged with the RM Officer.
3. RM Officer to table and report to Committee of Management at each meeting held.
4. Committee of Management to deal with each issue as it arises.
5. Committee of Management to be responsible for the additions to the Risk Management Policy and ensure at all times this policy is adhered to.
6. All issues of risk to the Society in general in all areas to be dealt with.

VENUE
1. Perimeter fences must be suitable to contain all ponies.
2. All entrance and exit gates must be manned or closed not locked at all times.
3. The areas must be deemed fit and safe for its intended use. Suitable protection from the sun should be available.
4. Exhibition rings should be suitably fenced with appropriate gates and signs to exclude spectators and  pedestrians.
5. Designated areas i.e. float parking, public car parking and pony exercise areas should be fenced with  temporary fencing and signs clearly indicating their purpose. Walkways for pedestrians and exhibitors to be separate and clearly signed.
6. Sub-contractors, i.e. Caterers, trade stalls, etc must have their own public liability insurance, food handlers certificates and health permits. All electrical leads must be tagged and safely kept off the ground.
7. Emergency vehicles must have unobstructed entrance and exit from the venue.

COMPETITION
1. All competitors must park in the designated areas. Ponies must move at walking pace at all times when outside the exhibition ring or exercise area.
2. All stallions and colts must be double tied when tied to floats or trucks.
3. All stallions and colts must be handled by persons 18 years and over. All stallions and colts must have correctly fitted head gear and a correctly fitting bit.
4. All mares, geldings and foals must wear correctly fitting head gear and be under control at all times.
5. Officials and stewards have the authority to remove any pony that they consider is not under control.
6. All equipment used i.e. saddles, bridles, etc. must be suitable for the activity undertaken and in good repair.
7. All riders and drivers must wear properly fitted AS/NXS3838 or equivalent helmets with chin straps and be less than 5 years old.
8. Appropriate footwear to be worn while riding, the foot must come out of the stirrup in the event of a fall and must not become trapped. Safety stirrups, toe stopped or clogs are recommended. All handlers must wear closed footwear for protection in case of a pony stepping on their feet.
9. Dogs must be properly tied up at all times. Barking or overly excitable dogs should not be brought to shows and will be asked to be removed from the venue.
10. All members will receive a pony/horse handling booklet and are expected to attend instruction seminars on horse/pony handling.
11. Appropriate first aid must be present at each event. A moderate level of first aid kit is the minimum requirement. All officials to be made aware of the location of the kit.
12. An effective means of communication with emergency services must be available at all times.
13. Only properly licensed driveres may move any motorized vehicle at the venue.
14. No naked flame will be allowed at the venue and all fire regulations will be observed.
15. All officials must be clearly identifiable with vests and badges.
16. In the event of an emergency, competitors, public and/or spectators will be directed by the public address system and/or signs to a safe area.
17. All officials to be briefed at least 30 minutes before the commencement of the event.
18. As soon as possible after the completion of the event a debriefing session will be undertaken with senior committee members and/or officials to identify any problems, their resolution and the areas of improving for future events.
19. Any accident or incident must be reported by officials in writing these reports to be reviewed by committee as soon as possible. Regular routine review of reports corresponding action (if appropriate) to be taken. Review to be documented. Accident and incident reports must be kept for a minimum of 7 years. If injured party is a child, reports must be kept until child is at least 21 years.
